For weeks, the world watched and waited, impatient for Prince William and Kate Middleton’s first baby to be born. Finally, Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge arrived on 22nd July at St Mary’s Hospital, London - the same hospital where Princess Diana had brought his father William into the world thirty-one years earlier.
The birth marked the beginning of a new generation of royalty for the oldest continuous monarchy in the world. Prince George is the direct descendant of the current Queen, and he will carry the mantel of monarchy into the 22nd century. Prince Harry is no longer third in line to the throne. He has been replaced by the son of Kate Middleton, the first commoner for 350 years to marry into the Royal family.
